Karl Lagerfeld - the genius of the fashion industry

There is no fashionista in the world who has not heard the name of Karl Lagerfeld at least once in her life. The famous German fashion designer turned the idea of beauty upside down, managed to conquer the whole world with his talent. A couturier was born in September 1933 in Hamburg, and at the age of 14 he moved with his family to Paris, where he began his path to recognition. In 1954, the young man first felt the rays of glory, because he was awarded by the International Wool Secretariat for the best coat design. But soon Karl becomes disillusioned with the Parisian haute couture and goes to Italy.

In the mid-1960s, Lagerfeld began active creative work. The designer created the first collection for men, and it became so successful that Karl was invited to teach at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. The fashion designer surprised the world with mini-skirts and short skirts, which quickly found fans. He worked as an independent designer for Chanel, Fendi, Chloe. The genius created exclusive items for each of these fashion houses, loved taking pictures and releasing his own photo books. The master's hobby was illustrating texts, in 1992 he released 60 drawings for the work "The King's New Dress", and in 2012 he became a regular editor of cartoons in a German newspaper.

A designer known for his scandalous nature, Lagerfeld has never been shy about expressing his opinion publicly. He once said that overweight women are lazy and unattractive, their place at home is in the kitchen. Such a statement became outrageous and was criticized even by celebrities. The fashion designer sharply perceived the topic of children, said that fatherhood is the last thing one should devote one's life to, but he considered himself not a family man.

Karl Lagerfeld was distinguished by his style of clothing and hairstyle. Couturier appeared in public only in intelligent tuxedos, dark glasses and white shirts. The designer collected her hair in a low bun and treated it with white powder, because by nature Karl had black hair. The man practically did not eat meat and adored cats. He dedicated a collection of clothes to his cat Choupette and repeatedly shot a furry girlfriend in advertising campaigns.

On February 19, 2019, the world lost a legend of the fashion industry. Karl Lagerfeld passed away at the age of 85 due to pancreatic cancer in Paris. Although the couturier has left us, the ingenious styles and collections of Karl will be relevant for more than one generation of fashionistas.
