Glovelettes - a fashion accessory for girls

Do you know how how to create a daring, original, bright and very stylish look like Lady Gaga or Karl Lagerfeld with just one accessory? No? We'll tell you – it's enough to put on glovelettes. These are gloves that partially open the fingers. These are not traditional mitts that cover the hand and phalanx of the thumb, but full-fledged gloves, but only with "cut off fingers", that is, with bridges between all fingers that cover their lower phalanxes.

Where did these glovelettes come from?

Every day, going to work, study or just for business, do we really think about how and where these or those items of our wardrobe came from. And many of them have a long history and even at one time migrated to the women's wardrobe from the men's. There are many examples of this: for example, trousers, raincoats, berets and much more. Gloves are no exception. So, the history of the appearance of gloves stretches back from the time of Ancient Egypt. At that time, they played the role of protection for the hands and were used mainly by soldiers and workers. In ancient Egypt, gloves made of leather strips and reinforced with iron spikes were worn by gladiators before the fight. And in the Middle Ages in Europe used for protection in case of war and plague.

Today they perform the same function as they did a thousand years ago: gloves protect hands from cold and damage. But unlike ordinary gloves, glovelets give the fingers more freedom and allow their wearer to perform more actions without removing them.

In the everyday life of modern women, glovelettes appeared only with a light suggestion of the English rock musician Nick Kershaw, who first appeared on the open stage in the early 80s in knitted gloves with open fingers. Since then, all fashionistas in the world have realized that such an accessory is very, very convenient.

Originally, glovelettes were exceptionally long and covered the entire forearm and even the upper arm. But today they can be of completely different lengths, from different materials, different colors, with or without decor, themed or classic, everyday and festive. Most often, glovelettes are found in brides' dresses: lace, openwork, elegant, with rhinestones, beads and embroidery, they become one of the main elements of a wedding dress. And leather, woolen and knitted fingerless gloves were appreciated by cyclists and truckers: such an accessory perfectly warms hands, provides air ventilation inside the glove and excellent grip on the steering wheel. Therefore, this accessory is often called motorist gloves, biker or driver's gloves.

How to wear glovelets and what to combine with?

"Cutted fingers" have become a symbol of freedom-hungry rebels: punks, bikers, rockers and representatives of other subcultures. Therefore, it is customary to wear glovelettes with things in the gothic style, in the sexy style of glam rock, layer-look and in many other informal looks. But if gloves are made in a more restrained style, made of wool, knitwear, suede, nylon or mesh, they can be used in classic, casual and glamorous styles, where the main emphasis is on convenience and practicality. Glovelets will bring originality and touch to any style originality. But for this you need to remember a few rules:

  • glovelettes by themselves – a very bright accent in the image, so all other details of it should act as a background so as not to oversaturate the image;
  • it is important to have a neat and effective manicure;
  • for a brutal look, car gloves made of leather, velvet, with metal elements are suitable, and for a gentle – lace glovelets with rhinestones, pearls and sequins;
  • It is better to combine biker gloves with ripped jeans, sneakers, leather jackets, T-shirts, T-shirts, silk tops, jeans and chokers.

Using this approach, you will be able to create an image like Lady Gaga, Madonna, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Avril Lavigne and Sarah Jessica Parker.
