Through the pages of fashion: avant-garde style by Viktor & Rolf

Victor & Rolf is a fashion house founded in 1993 by young designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. The Dutch duo surprised the world with "toy" fashion shows and fake perfume bottles, which are even exhibited in the Amsterdam Gallery. The brand gained fame already in Paris, where in 1998 it felt real rays of glory from an ever-growing public. Designers are known for their love of extraordinary shapes, huge volumes and perfect tuxedos. They released their first collection for the fall/winter 2000 season. Designed in a ready-to-wear style, it symbolizes the beginning of the duo's original journey in the fashion industry.

In 2002, the brand released a collection called "Black Hole". Models walked down the runway, smeared with black paint, in dark dresses and hats. At the same time, Horsting and Snoring presented the summer show “White”, the clothes were made in white, decorated with ruffles, delicate lace, cute ribbons.

In 2004, the designers released their first perfume for women - “Flowerbomb”. The main smell was created by L`Oreal, and the couturiers developed an extraordinary bottle design and outer packaging. The release of the fragrance was accompanied by a new collection of Viktor & Rolf for the spring/summer season. The creators turned off the lights for a few minutes, during which time the models changed from black to pink dresses, and the presentation of the perfume took place. In 2006, fashion designers introduced the men's perfume “Antidote”, also along with the new show.

The brand collaborated with the Swedish company H&M in 2006 and created 70 models of clothing: skirts, trousers, cardigans, jackets and more. The show ended with a fashion show by Raquel Zimmermann in a wedding dress, which was made in the amount of 1000 units.

In 2009 Horsing and Snoring created a fabulous summer collection. It shows puffy dresses, decorated with tulle inserts. The authors combined unusual geometric shapes of skirts and discreet corsets. Roisin Murphy performed live at the screening.

In 2012, Viktor & Rolf created a collection dedicated to the singers of the 1930s. The duet used black, nude, coral and white shades, and materials - satin, lurex, silk. The men's line was overflowing with jackets and tuxedos in grey, blue and terracotta.

Brand shows are an unforgettable show from which you don't know what to expect. Designers painted the faces of the models in red paint, put pillows and horns on them, created virtual clones, porcelain dolls and attached designs with lighting directly to the models. In a word, couturiers know how to capture the viewer.

2019 was a bright comet for Viktor & Rolf, because the couturiers have developed an amazing spring collection. Snoren and Horsting experimented with prints and released cone-shaped dresses, on which phrases from everyday life are written in huge letters. "Leave me", "I'm not shy, I just don't like you", "Trust me, I'm a liar" - scream new designer dresses, they reflect the "mood of the day" and laugh at the ordinary. Dresses made from tulle and wide frames are suitable for gatherings with friends and for a promenade along the red carpet.
