Polo shirt, what is special
T-shirts and T-shirts are such things that you can never have too many. White, black, colorful, with a funny print, in short, the more the better. Every guy and girl has a couple of light T-shirts for the summer and a couple more polo shirts in the closet. By the way, did someone think why polo shirts are called that? Already you just automatically say "polo" and that's all, but how it happened, hardly anyone knows for sure.
To start, a little history. The name of the T-shirt - polo is associated with the sport of the same name. This uncomplicated game first appeared in Persia. In its modern form, polo re-emerged in India. The word "polo" comes from the ancient Indian "pulu", which translates as "willow rods". Those who played the game wore long-sleeved sweaters, mounted a horse or an elephant, and tried to put the ball into the opponent's goal with a stick. Over time, the game has acquired modern features. The uniform of the players included a classic long-sleeve shirt, trousers, oversized boots, a protective helmet and gloves.
Still later, the American traveler James Bennet invented the first equestrian polo club in the United States. And that's when the U.S. brand was founded. Polo Assn, only she had the right to produce uniforms for equestrian polo players. The clothes of the players since that time, of course, have changed, become more modern: they began to wear breeches instead of trousers, only the length of the sleeve remained untouched, up to the wrist, and for the sake of convenience, the players rolled them up to the elbow. In 1951, René Lacoste invented the first colored polos.
And immediately the 34th President of the United States, Dwight Eisenhower, was seen by the general public playing golf in this Lacoste T-shirt. Over the years, the polo shirt has only improved: the sleeves were shortened, two stripes of contrasting colors were added to the cuffs and collar, and they also came up with a collar fastened with a button so that it did not wrap up. A couple of years later, designer Ralpf Lauren began releasing a signature Ralpf Lauren polo shirt in 24 colors.
And he chose the logo, now known to the whole world, a golfer who sits on a horse. Xi after this triumph, a sports T-shirt with a short sleeve with an elastic band on 2-4 buttons, and with a collar was called a polo shirt.
Due to their versatility and comfort, polo shirts have become a must-have in the wardrobe, and have moved from sportswear to everyday wardrobe.
